ABOUT CHETNA
Chetna D’Souza is a contemporary painter born in Pune, India, in 1990. Currently based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, she creates acrylic and oil paintings on cotton inspired by the post-war art movement. D’Souza is best known for paintings that bridge abstraction and figuration, characterized by bold colors, thick impasto, and gestural brushstrokes. Her work creates a dynamic interplay between form and expression, with a focus on the harmony of the overall canvas.
D’Souza's paintings showcase quietude in figures, objects, or landscapes, often distorted and reinterpreted through her unique lens. Her subject matter frequently features cowboys, horses, and human figures, capturing a sense of both energy and stillness. D’Souza's artistic process is driven by an exploration of color, texture, and form, drawing inspiration from both the natural world and human experience.
D’Souza's work has been exhibited at the Rotunda Gallery in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the White Bear Center for the Arts in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, USA. She has participated in the "Here and Now" contemporary art exhibition at the Rotunda Gallery and was awarded ‘Best in Acrylics’ in the "Into the Nature" Plein Air Contest at the White Bear Center for the Arts.
